Honker Inn Lodge offers exceptional hunting opportunities - waterfowl, quail, dove, grouse, mule deer, and antelope, with our specialty being Canada Geese. Shooting ground squirrels after the snow thaws is also very popular. Guests can also combine hunting and fishing. Hunting details are covered shortly.
Non-hunters will find a variety of activities to choose from, depending on their interests. These include mountain bike, hike, fish lakes or streams (spin or fly), bird watch, rock hound, hang glide, backpack, view wild flowers and wildlife, take photos, star gaze, canoe, snowmobile, ski, etc. Guided or self guided tours are also available to hot springs, Native American petroglyphs, Hart Mountain Antelope Refuge, sun stone mines, and more.

WATERFOWL-Geese/ducks: We are centrally located in the midst of prime habitat with guests' blinds oftentimes only a short walk from the lodge, Thousands of geese and ducks make this wet land their home, providing outstanding hunting.

Geese and ducks are hunted from either private ranch land or by boat with natural tule blinds. All hunts are scheduled for a minimum of two days, with hunting until noon each day. Afternoon hunts can be arranged for an additional fee.
The guided honker hunt includes private ranch fee, guide (blinds, decoys, calling), lodging, and meals. We also offer a combination goose/duck hunt on Goose Lake with boat, guide (decoys, calling), lodging, and meals included. For a nominal fee, goose hunters can add an afternoon quail hunt.

Ask about the early Oregon depredation Canada goose season in September.

Quail: Private ranches offer excellent valley quail hunting. Hunts can be arranged for morning or afternoon. The season is usually from mid-October until January.

Grouse: The season is for 30 days beginning the second Saturday in September. Choice upland hunting areas offer excellent blue and ruffled grouse habitat. Beautiful scenic ridge tops in the Warner Mountains and Lassen Creek areas make for enjoyable hunting.

Dove: Dove season opens September 1 each year. Bring plenty of shells, as doves provide fast paced wing shooting. Hunting is on private ranches.

Mule Deer: Hunts are by draw in California (Zone X3B) or Oregon (South Warner Area).

Antelope: The hunting Zone is 3, Likely Tables, with a split season. The first season usually begins the third Saturday in August followed by another two week period in mid-September. Those hunters fortunate enough to draw this zone are sure to find their choice of many fine pronghorn.


Spring Ground Squirrels: When the ground begins to warm in Spring, thousands of ground squirrels come out of hibernation. Bring your 22's, shotguns, pistols, or high powered varmint rifles; ammunition; and current Ca. and/or hunting license and help control the areas number one rancher's pest. Depending on weather conditions, these destructive varmints are plentiful from mid-March through the end of June.
